Why a spreadsheet stops working
Most job searches start in a spreadsheet and most spreadsheets are abandoned around the fifteenth application. Not because people are disorganised, but because the spreadsheet only records what happened - it never tells you what to do next. By the time you have twenty applications open, the question is no longer what you applied for, it is which four are waiting on you today.
The tracker is a board with a column per stage: saved, applied, phone screen, interview, offer, closed. Moving a card is the whole interaction. Because the board knows how long a card has sat in a column, it can answer the question a spreadsheet cannot - which of these has gone quiet, and how long has it been quiet for.
What gets captured automatically
The Chrome extension saves a posting from a job board or a company careers page with the title, company, location and salary already filled in, so adding an application is one click rather than a form. Saved jobs land in the first column, and the original posting is kept with the card - which matters more than it sounds, because postings get taken down and you will want the description when you prepare for the interview.
Everything else is manual on purpose. There is no inbox scanning and no email access: the product does not read your mail, so it cannot move a card for you when a rejection arrives. That is a deliberate trade of convenience against handing over a mailbox.
Tasks, notes and follow-up
Each application carries its own tasks, notes, contacts and documents. The follow-up you promised in an interview lives on the card for that interview rather than in a separate to-do app that has lost the context. Tasks have due dates and surface on the dashboard, so the day's work is a list rather than a scan of the board.
The free plan tracks up to 100 applications, which is more than most searches ever reach. Paid plans remove that ceiling.
Questions
Can I import applications I have already tracked elsewhere?
Yes. Applications can be added in bulk, and the Chrome extension can save postings you have open. There is no automatic import from a spreadsheet file today.
Does it read my email to detect rejections?
No. The product does not connect to your mailbox and never reads your mail. Stage changes are yours to make, which means the board is always exactly as accurate as you have kept it.
How many applications can I track on the free plan?
Up to 100. Paid plans remove the limit. Every plan includes the board, list and timeline views, tasks, and unlimited networking contacts.
